Introducing: Recurring Subscriptions & Paid Memberships

Our latest commerce update is one of our biggest ever.

Today we're pleased to announce two major additions to Articulation's commerce engine: recurring subscriptions for any product type, and a new Membership product that ties subscription billing to group-based content access.


Recurring Subscriptions


Any product on your store — physical, digital, service, or donation — can now be sold as a recurring subscription. Set a billing interval (weekly, monthly, or yearly), and customers are charged automatically via Stripe.


From your dashboard, you get a dedicated Subscriptions page to search, filter, and manage every active subscription. Cancel directly from the subscription list, a transaction detail, or a member's profile.


Customers receive lifecycle emails for renewals, cancellations, payment failures, and more. They can also manage their own subscription through a self-service portal link sent to their email.


Membership Products


The new Membership product type combines subscriptions with your existing member groups. When a customer purchases a membership, they're automatically added to a group you choose — giving them access to any pages restricted to that group. When the subscription ends, access is revoked.


Here's how it works:


  • Create a group and restrict pages to it
  • Create a Membership product and link it to that group
  • A customer subscribes and immediately gets a site account, group access, and a login email
  • If they cancel (or you cancel for them), they're removed from the group
  • Optional grace period lets you delay removal by a set number of days after cancellation or payment failure


Membership status is visible everywhere in the dashboard — on the members list, group detail pages, member profiles, and transaction views. Active subscriptions prevent accidental member removal.
